What have I done?
I have photographed my cousin Patrick’s eyes whilst he was playing with his train set.
What have I got from it?
I wanted to photograph his eyes not only because they’re physically big and amazing, but also because I want to photograph a range of ages within this project and he is only 3 1/2 nearly 4 so I thought it would be interesting to see if I can capture any feeling just from looking within his eyes. I feel as though this was a successful shoot with some sharp and detailed images as a result. My personal favourite is one where he is just thinking. It was just a moment that consisted of a few seconds where he just stopped talking and playing and just had a think. I was able to capture this moment, of which I am quite proud of. His eyes are clear and the natural light from the double doors on his right, falls softly on to the left side of his face.
I feel as though I achieved the outcome I aimed for. As I wanted to capture the eyes in the context of their beholder – innocence, childhood, fresh faced and hopeful.
On the same day I also took some photos of my own eyes…
I had a situation on my mind and I wanted to see if it portrayed through my eyes…
I know a lot of these are slightly over exposed but I wanted them to be slightly lighter to show the colours… I’ve never looked at my own eyes in this way! It’s fascinating to see the colours and detail that I never even noticed in such detail before.
