The aim of this shoot was to use the LED wires to record the movement leading up to the moment/jump and then flash the subject at the peek of movement. I wanted my shots to looked less static and really show a progression up to the move. I used the wires to create the trails and in images 3 & 4 used panning to show the fast pace. The model and I worked well together to create the look I wanted. I used shorter exposures for this shoot compared with the 20 second exposures on the last one, because I wanted the subject to appear less ‘transparent’ as the background light was overpowering the flash because it was being exposed for longer. Also on some of the longer exposures the shots appeared more ‘busy’ with all the different light sources leaking in, but with this I wanted to be more intentional.
I am extremely happy with these shots and feel they are some of the strongest so far. Next I want to capture the grit and emotion from the free runner, mid move.
