Specialist Technique & Process 3 – Meeting for External Opportunity

21st October 2015

As a group, preparing to shoot a big job (Bradford Business Conference) we had a meeting with an event photographer with 30 years experience called Mike Tipping. He talked us through being professional, tips on how to approach people, preparing our kit, contacting the right people, dealing with security personnel, the technical side, crowd shots, architecture, capturing ‘off shots’ – details of the day, ironic shots/amusing details, how to shoot creatively yet appropriately, addressing issues of confidence and general advice from his experience photographing for the press and covering events and conferences over the 30 years.

This was an extremely helpful session because he covered everything we could think of with regards to all areas of photographing events/conferences. I felt more confident afterwards and I could relate to a lot of his advice because I already shoot weddings and events, however conferences are just a bit more specific.
