I assisted a make up artists photoshoot with a colleague of mine. The MUA had 2 specific looks she wanted photographing, each with different lighting. We worked together and came up with different ideas, angles etc for each specific look with regards to what the look actually represented and its context, which we applied when shooting. The first look was a masquerade type look, so we went for one direct beauty dish positioned central and slightly above the model, with no backlights so the background was black/dark grey (and we used a black flag behind the model to make it completely dark). The next look was more bubbly, fun and more colourful. This wasn’t the intended look the MUA had in mind at the start because the look she tried at first didn’t go to plan, but we worked with what she produced to the best of our ability. So we had the beauty dish in the same position but we also had 2 soft box’s on the background to make it light grey/white. Here are the results:
I feel this shoot went well and the MUA was happy with the final images produced.
