Specialist Studio Practice 3 – External Opportunity

11th February 2016

I attended a talk held by Karen – the director of ShutterHub and had a portfolio review with her. Here are the images I presented to her:

My aim was to show real moments and connections between people, and to represent a range of situations and emotions experienced.

I spoke with Karen mainly about the business side of things and she gave me some tips that really helped me. She talked me through communication and because I was worried about taking too long for my clients after a job she said I could word it in a way that lets them know that I do every area of the job with such care and consideration with every single image having individual attention – which is the truth about my work! I provide something that is so heart felt and I pay every job the individual attention and adapt to what each job needs, and I always work hard and give 100%. So she gave me communication tips and also tips with pricing and how to break it down for the client so they know what they’re paying for. To create trust between the client and I, and to always make things crystal clear to ensure a good reputation and feedback. She recommended getting my website up to date and getting some business cards sorted. I had already been thinking about this recently so it encouraged me to get on with it.
